French picture musical wall clock 19the century by Wurtel in Paris.
The glazed oil on canvas painting depicting the interior of a 19the century house with his grandfather clock incorporated a enamel dial with signature and Roman numerals within a guild stuccoed frame.
The principal mechanism is a two train spring driven 8 day movement with outer countwheel striking on gong for the hours and half hours and releasing a separate mechanism for the repetition off the hours and half hours.
Completely at the right a third mechanism for the striking off the Angelus at six o’clock in the morning.
The most interesting part is a comb musical mechanism playing every hour with 12 different tunes, it has a special transmission for the winding of his great spring.
The clock has still all his original papers inside with the 12 tunes, the manufacturing company and seller.
The whole is in a wooden frame with three levels at the bottom.
